Resources U.S. Internal Revenue Service The IRS is a bureau of the Department of the Treasury and one of the world's most efficient tax administrators. In 2004, the IRS collected more than $2 trillion in revenue and processed more than 224 million tax returns. The IRS Mission: Provide America's taxpayers top quality service by helping them understand and meet their tax responsibilities and by applying the tax law with integrity and fairness to all. Resources Resources for Further Research Files made available for other researchers in formats most useful for their research. Only public files are included. Files in their original formats: Presentations may be available in Microsoft PowerPoint or LibreOffice formats. Documents available as Microsofts Word, WordPerfect, or Libre Office. XML Schemas (. xsd) are included as published. Adobe Acrobat documents may be included as documentation and examples. Video and audio files, and graphics are organized separately under media.
Resources Archives Documents that are no longer current, or not being used in current research and development. Superseded Standards versioned standards and guidelines where only the last version is authoritativeare in a separate collection. U.S. Student Financial Aid is a separate collection combining current and historical documents. Every version of a document is retained for possible audit or litigation. Archived documents are organized by publisher.
Resources Warning on Use These materials have been collected from a number of different sources that were considered reliable and current when compiled. Bookmarks, thumbnails, and indexes have been added both automatically by computer programs and manually and are subject to error. The compilation is intended as one of several references and each document should be read with its limitations in mind. Many of these documents are drafts or versions that may have been changed or may be changed. More current copies may be available and should be used when authoritative sources are needed. There is no expressed or implied warranty of any kind and the authors and publisher assumes no responsibility for errors or omissions.
