2 The Reading Read pages 390 – 405 in Art Talk.

3 The Writing Write a summary of the Careers in Art reading. Complete Activities #1 and #2: Study Question Work Sheet and Art Career Checklist. Choose two careers you find especially interesting to compare and contrast based upon the information provided in the reading. Discuss the career you find most interesting and additional information youd like to know about that particular career. You must use complete sentences and the rules of effective writing to complete your summary. Turn in your typed response with your project on a CD to Ms. Turner.

4 The Project After reading pages 390 – 405 in Art Talk and completing your written summary Select a career to feature in a PowerPoint Presentation or Prezi Complete the PowerPoint tutorial available on the M: Drive if necessary Create a Presentation of at least 8 complete slides. Bibliography or references should be provided as a ninth (9 th ) slide Your presentation will need to include the following: a) An explanation why this particular career interests you b) What particular skills one needs to possess to succeed in the career c) What particular skills need to be developed to make this a viable career choice and school or universities offering training. d) What does an education of this nature cost? And what is the salary range for this type of career? e) Present the advantages and disadvantages of this career f) Provide your personal outlook as to why or why not this would be a possible career choice for you. REMEMBER to provide a bibliography of for the sources or references for the information used in your presentation.

7 PowerPoint Tutorial To complete the PowerPoint tutorial go to the M: Drive

8 The Design Qualities Make sure to utilize the principles to construct and organize the elements on each slide of your presentation. Work toward a unified flow with your presentation by repeating type fonts, colors and formats. Variety is good, yet a lack of continuity makes a presentation appear disjointed. Keep it clean. Avoid too many bells and whistles available in PowerPoint. Avoid using decorative type fonts for the body of your text. Decorative fonts work best for headlines exclusively or to highlight a small amount of information. Also, avoid light colors on a light back ground for information. Make sure the text and headlines are legible. Black and white is the best contrast for a large body of text.
