Advertising with Face Book Guadalupe Perez III October 12, 2010 EDTC 3332 Instructional Technology Practicum

Needs Assessment: I will train the employees at One Stop Service Center on how to use Face Book to advertise weekly specials and communicate with customers through e-mail, the wall, or in real time using chatting. This will save my company money on advertising and it will allow me to advertise more frequently because it will be free.

Needs Assessment: Advertising in the Bargain Book and the Brownsville Herald has become too expensive and I can no longer afford it due to the economy. Current customers need to be aware of the upcoming sales so that I can generate more income. New customers need to know my services and where I am located. Advertising should be done regularly to keep up with competition.

Needs Assessment: The solution to my advertising problem is to use Face Book to communicate more frequently with my customers. I will keep close contact with current customers and I will also generate more customers and hopefully more sales. I will advertise the weekly specials online and train my employees on how to communicate with the customers using Face Book.

Instructional Goal: The employees at One Stop Service Center will be able to advertise the weekly specials on tires and auto services and communicate with customers using Face Book.

Performance Objectives: My salesman and secretary will be able to log in to Face Book to request and confirm friends with 100% accuracy. My salesman and secretary will be able to post the weekly specials on the wall with 100% accuracy. My salesman and secretary will be able to respond to customers comments on the wall or by private messages with 100% accuracy. My salesman and secretary will be able to communicate with customers that are online in real time with 100% accuracy.

Assessment of Learning Outcomes: I plan to use pop up multiple choice and true and false questions on the training module to test whether the employee is understanding the material they are reading. I also plan to communicate with my employees using my personal Face Book account and my wife’s to see how they handle themselves in a real situation. Performance ObjectiveAssessment 1.My salesman and secretary will be able to log in to Face Book to request and confirm friends with 100% accuracy. Which answer choice correctly displays One Stop Service Center’s Face Book e-mail and password? 2. My salesman and secretary will be able to post the weekly specials on the wall with 100% accuracy. What is the first thing you must do to post a special on the Face Book wall? 3. My salesman and secretary will be able to respond to customers comments on the wall or by private messages with 100% accuracy. Where do you click first to send a customer a private message instead of using the wall? 4. My salesman and secretary will be able to communicate with customers that are online in real time with 100% accuracy. How do you know if a customer is currently online and ready to communicate with you?

Learner Characteristics: The target audience for my project are my salesman and my secretary at my mechanic shop. The necessary skills to complete the training are typing, being familiar with the internet address bar, and knowledge of parts and services available at my business. My salesman is about 35 years old and he is computer friendly. He understands how to surf the internet, works well with email and social networks. He is also very eager to learn about technology and is not afraid of it. My secretary on the other hand is about 45 years old and does not have much experience with technology. She requires a lot of help when working with the internet and has never used the internet for social networking.

Learning Context: Training will take place at the business during the workday from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm. This will be on a daily basis. The business computer will be available so that they can answer questions regarding parts and prices. My secretary does not own a computer at home so she can only practice at work. My salesman does own a computer at home, so he can continue to communicate from home with customers. The computer contains the program Mitchell 1 for correct prices on parts and labor. This program is only available at the business so they can not access it from home.
