Why Napoleon’s Egyptian Campaign? The Time of the End has worldwide implications, not just upon Christendom. Egypt was: one of the most backward countries at that time part of the Muslim heartland had never been conquered by non-Muslims. Napoleon’s goals in Egypt were to: free the Egyptians from tyranny show them the light of reason provided with the advantages of popular government instructed in the latest scientific advances

Day of His Preparation – Nahum 2:3-4 The chariots are fire of steel in the day of his preparation,...the chariots rush madly in the streets, they jostle one against another in the broad places; the appearance of them is like torches, they run to and fro like the lightnings. The day of his preparation is another name for the time of the end.

What is Being Prepared? Mankind is being prepared for the Kingdom: Increase of knowledge and inventions Man’s life has improved materially along all lines Oppressive governments have been brought low Liberty and luxury have whetted man’s appetite Discontent with society, despite the improvements, is widespread and the key factor to the future overthrow of present institutions. Everything is getting ready for the kingdom!

Napoleon & the French Revolution The watchwords of the French Revolution were Liberty Equality Fraternity Napoleon was forged by the French Revolution. The French Revolution de-Christianized France. It was perfect retribution for the crimes of Papacy against the French people. The French Revolution is featured prominently in Revelation.

French Revolution – Revelation 12 The woman was given the two wings of a great eagle for her flight to the desert, to her appointed place, where she is nourished for a Time, two Times, and half a Time, safe from the serpent. Then from his mouth the serpent poured water after the woman like a river, to sweep her away with a flood; but the earth came to the rescue of the woman, the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the river that the dragon had poured out of his mouth. Verses 14-16 Moffatt

French Revolution – Revelation 11 But I will allow my two witnesses to prophesy for twelve hundred and sixty days, clad in sackcloth... But, when they have finished their testimony, the Beast that ascends from the abyss will make war on them and conquer them and kill them – verses 3, 7 Moffatt

French Revolution – Revelation 17 The Wild Beast which you have seen was, and is not, and yet is destined to re-ascend, before long, out of the bottomless pit and go his way into perdition. And the inhabitants of the earth will be filled with amazement-- all whose names are not in the Book of Life, having been recorded there ever since the creation of the world--when they see the Wild Beast: because he was, and is not, and yet is to come... And the Wild Beast which once existed but does not now exist--he is an eighth and yet is one of the seven and he goes his way into perdition. Verses 8, 11 Weymouth

Napoleon and Religion At the time appointed he shall return and come into the south, but this time it shall not be as it was before. For ships of Kittim shall come against him, and he shall lose heart and withdraw. He shall be enraged and take action against the holy covenant. He shall turn back and pay heed to those who forsake the holy covenant. Daniel 11:29-30 Napoleon’s “principle was to look upon religion as the work of man, but to respect it everywhere as a powerful means of government.”

Napoleon Prospered And the king... shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that which is determined shall be done. Daniel 11:36

Napoleon in the Middle East He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon. He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape. But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps. But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many. Daniel 11:41-44

Napoleon and the Glorious Land And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him. Daniel 11:45 Proclamation to the Jews Arise then, with gladness, ye exiled (and take unto yourselves) Israel’s patrimony. Napoleon is the first modern leader to support a homeland for the Jewish in Palestine.

Impact of Napoleon Defeated the Old and New Rome (Austria & Russia) Ended the Holy Roman Empire in Germany Conquered a European realm that was bigger than Caesar’s or Charlemagne’s conquests in Europe Created more kings in a year and a half than the Holy Roman Emperors had in a millennium. Rewrote the French legal code still in use across Europe. Emancipated Jews across Europe. Uncovered the Pyramids and Rosetta Stone. Sold the US 1 million sq miles, the Louisiana Purchase Spread the ideas of the French Revolution in Europe. Ended the Papal dominion and power to persecute.

Why Napoleon’s Egyptian Campaign? Arab and Western scholars date 1799 as the beginning of the modern era in the Middle East. As seen by Muslims, Napoleon invasion of Egypt is the precursor of the Western invasion and dominance of the Muslim world, and this includes Israel’s rebirth. Napoleon emancipated Christians and Jews from their dhimmi status (second class citizens) in Egypt. Napoleon impacted the three monotheistic religions, Christianity, Judaism, Islam and sowed the seeds of modern conflict among the three. Napoleon’s invasion is part of the Lord’s preparation of the Muslim world for the kingdom.
