1 Fourth and Fifth Grade Experiential Retreat

2 The Experiential Education Model Provides children with opportunities to: develop decision-making and conflict resolution skills; establish a sense of belonging within the school community; explore issues relating to peer pressure and social relationships.

6 Why Go? 4 th grade The fourth grade retreat is an off-campus trip designed to address and explore a health unit relating to drugs and alcohol. We focus on the themes of peer pressure and decision- making. Students engage in activities that develop self-confidence, independence, mutual respect, and responsibility. 5 th grade The fifth grade retreat is a unique off-campus trip for students to explore social and peer relationships. Students will develop an understanding of what influences their decision making. Goals include strengthening personal confidence and identity.

21 Medication Medication should be labeled with the child’s name and given to the homeroom teacher with the doctor’s prescription. It will be given to the NR nurse who will dispense the medicine. Motion sickness medication should also be labeled and given to the homeroom teacher. Basic medication, such as Tylenol, will be available with the medical staff at NR.

22 Required Paperwork Envelope Contents Parent information packet Small envelope : (to be returned by February 22 nd ) notarized authorization (required by Brazilian law for children traveling without parents) medical release xerox copy of ID documents ( parents’ and students’) Bill ( Boleto Bancário )– will be sent to parents at a later date

23 Price 4 th grade trip cost The “boleto” for payment of R$ 810,00 will be delivered by the school late February.
