THE LOUVRE IS THE PLACE TO BE. By Verity, Ailsa, Emily, Kirsty and Annie.
FACTS ON THE LOUVRE The latest addition to the Louvre was the glass pyramid entrance. The Louvre sees 8 million visitors a year. Many of the worlds most precious works of art are among the treasures of the Louvre. The glass pyramid allows sunlight to come in on the under ground floor. The Louvre holds the rich artistic heritage of the French people.
FACTS ON THE LOUVRE. The Louvre displays 35,000 works of art. The Louvre also has 334,940 works which are not on show. The building itself is 800 years old. The building is built in seven stages. The immense museum has 2 courtyards and is 2 stories high. Since 1989,the large Pyramid has dominated the inner courtyard.

The Louvre holds some of the worlds most famous art. King Philip Augustus of France in 1360,King Charles V made the fortress into a palace. More then eight hundred years ago, King Philip August ordered the construction of the Louvre.
