Definition: a grammatical construction which contains an independent/complete thought and a dependent/incomplete thought. 1. Because I sprained my ankle, I couldn’t play soccer. 2. Although I didn’t like tomatoes, I tried them again anyways. 3. Since it was getting dark out, we all had to come inside.
