3 Acronyms and terminology PEP - Professional Experience Program PST - Preservice Teacher You are assigned the term PST because you are entering the professional field of teaching AT - Associate Teacher This is the classroom teacher who will work with you in the placement school STC - Student-Teacher Coordinator This is the staff member in the placement school who has the role of ensuring that you meet the requirements of PEP. This person liaises with the university and is your first contact in the school

4 EDFX506 8 Wednesdays then 3 week continuous block. 1 st day at placement: Wednesday March 20 th, 2013 PEP office will source all placements. Please complete a Placement Form.

7 Scheduling of PEP Appropriate arrangements will need to be made to accommodate for your successful participation in and completion of PEP PEP is a compulsory component of your course. This means that you will need to be mindful of: – Work commitments – Booking vacations and holidays

10 Important Documents PEP Placement Forms PEP Placement Forms – As soon as possible Placement may be delayed if later than Friday, February 22 nd – Bring it to the PEP office Mail box if window closed Scan / email will be fine if unable to get to Uni WWCC Card WWCC Card – A copy of your card must be given to the PEP office for your file. – With you AT ALL TIMES on placement

13 FAQs How do you decide where I’m going to be placed? – Address – Access to own transport (car / motorcycle / bicycle, etc.) – Access to public transport How far will I be expected to travel? – Under normal circumstances no more than 1.5 hours each way How will you notify me of my placement? – Via your ACU email address

14 FAQs When will placement details be released? – Usually 2 weeks before placement is due to begin What happens if I don’t get placed? – Worst case scenario, start later and make up the missed day(s) – Not yet had anyone who did not get placed at all I don’t like where I am placed, can I swop? – No. It is extremely difficult to secure placements given high competition therefore placements are final once confirmed with the school and you are notified by email

15 Missed Days Illness / Carer’s Leave – Inform PEP office – Inform School – Negotiate make up day for missed day In order to meet the requirements of your course, ALL missed days must be made up. – Email PEP to confirm that this has been done It is NOT permitted to miss lectures / tutorials in order to make up a missed PEP day Days missed during block – Same as above, however missed days may need to be made up in Term 3, after school holidays
