Workshop 1D – Getting started with service evaluation in the practice setting
Outline of the workshop Recap what service evaluation is Explore the challenges associated with doing service evaluation Develop some practical strategies for getting started with service evaluation in the workplace
Write up the evaluation report. Provide copies of the draft report for your stakeholder group to comment on Analyse and interpret the data collected. Make sure you have data management systems in place. Carry out the data collection Write a proposal Make a detailed plan of what you are going to do. Use the lessons learnt from the literature review to develop a method to answer your evaluation question. Decide what needs to be evaluated? Conduct a literature review to find out how the topic has been evaluated in the past Develop a precise question to guide your evaluation What does service evaluation involve? Are there any ethics and governance issues that need to be addressed? Ensure that all ethical and governance requirements are met and/or documented, e.g. if you are told you don’t need ethics make surer you have a record of this. Consider who will be affected by the evaluation Do you need to develop a stakeholder group? Finalise and disseminate the report Make sure the people who need to hear about or see findings Start the conversation about what needs to happen next.
