Headlines Outcomes Priorities

Lesson Observation Update The first cycle of observation is complete. Possible small adjustments to the statistics with the return visits. This update aims to highlight what we are doing well, and which areas require development. The next cycle will take place over the autumn and spring terms.

Classroom Observation: headlines 94% of lessons are Good or Outstanding. Remaining revisit observations may shift the overall figure.

Quality of Teaching since Ofsted 2010 The aim is to move the remaining 6% to Good or Outstanding. Quality of Teaching PM Ofsted Outcomes 2010 PM Not Adequate 0% 2% Satisfactory/ Need for Improvement 18%15%4% Good 58%60%53% Outstanding 24% 25%41% Good to Outstanding 82%85%94%

Performance Management Lesson Observation Analysis Assessment and the work scrutiny Assessment is a clear area for development. Often, less than good lessons, could not demonstrate progress over time; in other words, Assessment in the work scrutiny.

Assessment and planning The slightly lower figure for Planning links to Assessment and progress over time. Consideration needs to be given to how far Assessment informs the Planning of the lesson and learning outcomes Performance Management Lesson Observation Analysis

1.Assessment: progress over time and the work scrutiny 2.Student led learning 3.Literacy and communication 4.SMSC Quality of Teaching Priorities for Improvement Priorities for improving the quality of teaching across TCS remain the same to those identified in June.

1.Assessment: progress over time and work scrutiny CTLs and subject teams should aim to develop clearly standardised systems of marking and assessment. Directory of Best Practice CTLs and teachers should also use the ‘Directory of Best Practice’ to target strengths for observation across the subject teams. The Directory will be completed for distribution by the end of September 2012.

Twilight CPD One of the twilight CPD sessions will focus on student led learning with particular emphasis on collaborative learning techniques. CTLs should discuss priorities with their team using the lesson feedback sheets, and encourage those who would benefit from the session, to attend. 2. Student led learning

3. Literacy and communication Literacy and Communication will feature on the inset programme for Literacy and Communication will feature on the back of the observation feedback sheet. It will not be graded, but will become a crucial element of feedback and development. CTLs and teaching staff should continue to consider how they are addressing this important issue.

4. SMSC SMSC will feature on the observation feedback sheet in order to promote its importance. It will not be graded, but will become a crucial element of feedback and development. CTLs and teaching staff should continue to consider how this important issue is being addressed using the additional advice from the June inset for guidance.
