This non-profit making registered charity seeks to rescue Built Heritage in the Mid Essex Region. It is backed by the Architectural Heritage Fund (tel 0207 925 0199) and can attract Grant Aid and preferential Restoration Loans only available to Building Preservation Trusts. The Trust comprises 9 Trustees with professional experience in Planning, Law, Building Conservation, and Architecture. It has dedicated advisors on Finance, Law, Building Surveying & Contract Management Through acquisition and redeployment, we seek to rescue Heritage Buildings that have become misused, redundant, obsolete or dilapidated for whatever reason – whether through commercial, financial, legal, personal, or domestic crises. Is the MEHBT part of the Local Authority? No. The Trust is a registered charity that has developed very close links with Braintree, Chelmsford, & Maldon District Councils as well as Essex County Council. Our close but independent relationship allows us to understand and negotiate with these statutory bodies but allows us the freedom to explore the best possible potential outcome for any particular heritage building that may be at risk.
