2 Page 13 Note from the exam board Candidates are expected to produce a piece of continuous writing; they may use tables, bullet points or sub headings but need to write in full sentences. Things you must include on page 13 You need to write an evaluation of your product including the following Evaluation against the specification ● Does your product meet each point on your specification? If it does not why not? ● You should be critical of your product when comparing it to your specification but it it equally important to be constructive ● Highlight evidence from your product to show how it meets the specification point (if it does meet the specification point) Evaluation against the opinions of others ● If possible try to get the opinions of the people who you asked on page 4 ● Do you agree with the opinions of the people you have asked about the product? If so why if not why not? ● Explain why the opinions of others are an important evaluation tool What general conclusions can you draw? ● Write about the project as a whole but make reference to specific features / events ● How well does your design meet the need of the target audience? Why? ● Your time management, did you manage your time well? Why? ● Quality control issues ● Any general difficulties you may have had ● Any elements of success you have achieved

3 Examples of what to include Write about each point from your specification, you need to say if your product meets the point or not and why. You must write in full sentences Three possible sentence starters are shown, you may need to think of some more. Candidates should reflect on the points on page 13 and use a series of annotated sketches Things you must include on page 14 You need to show how you could improve your product Aesthetics How could you improve the way the product looks? Function How could you improve the way the product works? Quality of manufacture Could you improve the way the product was made? Processes you used Could you have used more effective processes? Limited equipment / resources Time How did having a time limit effect the manufacture? How could you improve the way you use time Durability How could you make the product more durable Safety Could you improve the safety of your product? How? Materials Could you select more appropriate materials next time

5 How your page 14 should look 1. Sketch an improved version of your product (you can be creative as you like as you are not going to have to manufacture it!) Aesthetics How could you improve the way the product looks? Function How could you improve the way the product works? Quality of manufacture Could you improve the way the product was made?
