Science and the Environment 1.1
Science and the Environment -Environmental Science is the study of how living things affect and interact with their environment. -The environment is an organism’s natural and human-made surroundings.
Environmental Scientists -Work to understand the environment -Solve environmental problems -Try to prevent new problems from occurring
Environment has 2 major parts 1.Natural Environment 2.Built Environment -The natural environment is also called nature -The built environment includes what humans have made (roads, buildings, etc.) -Both include the relationships among living and non-living things.
Environmental Scientists -Study both natural and built environments to understand how they affect each other -Explore how people use natural resources (water, plants, coal, and soil) -Environmental Science is an applied science -Applied science means it’s goal is to provide practical solutions to environmental problems
