7 7 EN philosophy: zThe purpose of this standard is to define safety requirements for escalators and moving walks in order to safeguard people and objects against risks of accidents during installation, operation, maintenance and inspection work. zEscalator acc. EN 115 definition: continuously moving stairway used for raising and lowering passengers. It is not recommended to use escalators as regular staircases or emergency exits. zThe same safety requirements for all types of escalators (commercial and public use).
