S UMMARY Presence of children in the household: Has an influence on quality of Internet access and use of the Internet has no impact on adult levels of self-efficacy / skill has an influence in the uptake of Internet uses beneficial to children “Usual suspects” are still more important than the child: age, education, gender, SES, self-efficacy
C ONCLUSION We cannot rely on children to get their parents involved with different aspects of the internet. If we want to create a truly inclusive knowledge society, both socio-economic barriers and skills barriers need to be overcome to encourage digital adult engagement.
