3 NSF ANNUAL REVIEW August 2010 Objectives Provide networking, compute resources and storage services to OOI users Provide peering connections to cloud services providers Create a prototype environment at UCSD which will be replicated at each of the CyberPops Develop an RFP for the WAN environment connecting the CyberPops

4 NSF ANNUAL REVIEW August 2010 Objectives CyberPop facilities will be a lights-out operations controlled and managed at UCSD CyberPops have sufficient redundancy and hardening and will have % availability of network routes, exclusive of scheduled downtime Utilize a 5 year replacement strategy CyberPops will use co-location facilities to house racks and equipment

12 NSF ANNUAL REVIEW August 2010 Optimistic Schedule Working Backwards: Go live May 2011 April 2011 – All CyberPops are operational February 2011 – San Diego/Portland sites are operational January 2010 – Contract award November 2010 – Complete evaluation process and selection of winning vendor(s) October 2010 – Receive proposal September 2010 – Release RFP, vendor questions, bidders conference
