The Board may register, upon written application, any person who: (a) Was employed in this field of public health in this state on July 1, 1987, and was a registered sanitarian in this state before July 1, 1977; or (b) Is registered as an environmental health specialist with the National Environmental Health Association and is a resident of this state. Standard State Registration Procedures - Degree Needed A four year degree is required. Please consider registration after acquiring a degree in the life sciences or environmental health. (a) A baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited college or university; (b) Satisfactorily completed at least 45 quarter hours or 30 semester hours of academic work approved by the Board in environmental health and public hygiene or the physical and biological sciences, or a combination of both.
