Resources are a good start Your courses are (should be) in the course navigation block already It should “know” you are the teacher You might have to sort students into groups Simply upload files and they become available to students

Why upload resources? Students lose worksheets and homework instructions. Students (or you) may not be in class when resources are needed. Materials that are otherwise restricted by copyright can be placed here as only our students can access them.

Other interactions ActivityPossible uses ForumsPeer-peer or teacher-student Q&A. FAQ’s or blogs. Many types available – eg can get students to post before they can see other posts WikisLike a mini-wikipedia in your course – students can contribute pages, definitions, revision materials – free form and easy to learn to use. PollsQuick feedback – one question and multiple responses. CommentsNew in Moodle 2. This is a side block that allows comments from students. Sounds dangerous but we can block students if necessary.

From moodle.org What are the components of an exemplary high school Moodle course? “We use forums extensively. Not just for discussing things but also as a way of getting students to share files/post links to web 2.0 stuff that everyone in the class can see. Also choice is very popular. Wikis used a bit, particularly the individual student ones”

Forum example “The message board worked miracles. As a teacher, it's always difficult to get students to respond in class. You always have the reluctant talkers. The forum is a great tool because it allows the students that are too embarrassed to talk, to have a voice without the intimidation. Everyone has a say and everyone has an opportunity to share. The students don't see it as homework because they get to get online and post answers and questions and love to be able to look over what everyone else was doing. My students responded very positively”

Wiki Example m/ Our main application: The class is divided into groups of 3-5 people per group. Each group is assigned one page to create and another page to edit, and everyone is encouraged to help on any page. The anatowiki is the most recent site, and probably the best.anatowiki More: page/How+we+use+wikis+in+class?t=a non
