Neural Integrity Retinal Assessment (NIRA™) Problem Photography of the retina for the follow up of diabetic retinopathy is a standard test for advanced changes that require laser or surgical intervention. With the advent of nutritional sciences that help control glycemic variables, it has become important to quantify the early neural effects of glycosylation. Solution The Neural Integrity Retinal Assessment (NIRA™) device enables quantification of subtle changes in collective neural synapse integrity based on retinal and post-retinal visual pathways. This helps eye doctors, endocrinology specialists and nutrition practitioners to closely monitor their diabetic patients.
Diabetic Retinopathy The standard technique for assessment of diabetic change in the retina is based on anatomical variables visualized by ophthalmoscopy, or by photographing the retina frontally. Advanced changes are irreversible.
