Why integrate HD media and control over coax?  Because it’s there – Re-use and Recycle  Earn LEED/STEP Innovation Points for control of displays What about new construction?  Cost - RF is a cost-effective HD content delivery system  Bandwidth – 5 times greater than IP  Distance – measured in miles, not feet  Simplicity – No hubs, Cat 5 receivers, transmitters or HD video router – just wire, all core components at one central Head End  Reliability – CR coax control systems in place for over 16 years

5 Actual Installation – Energy Savings  The Contemporary Research ICE-HE controls 48 of the common area ETV monitors across the campus.  Originally these monitors were left on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week consuming 79,500 kW hours of energy annually.  With the new control system the monitors are powered only during the working day using a standard 9/80 work schedule  This results in saving 55,215 kW hours of energy a year and extending the life of the displays by approximately 52%  The system communicates over the same CATV cable that transports the multimedia channels and can be used to control the receiver’s power, channel, and volume.  Multiple zones have been created including cafeterias, break rooms, hallway monitors that could be controlled separately.
