3 Enterprise GeoMedia 6.0 enterprise features fall into two main categories: Simplify GIS workflows Management of large data sets  Slide3- Enterprise Intro We’ll start with the enterprise theme. There are a number of new capabilities added under the enterprise umbrella and they fall into two groups: tools to help you configure your geospatial environment to simplify user workflows and miscellaneous improvements in working with large data sets

These tools consist of: A new library subsystem for sharing geoworkspae informatio around the enterprise A desktop configuration utility for customsing the appearance of the application interface And a new categories system for simplifying the presentation of geospatial data to the end-user

Geospatial metadata is important to many users as a means to track information about the data being used in the GIS such as source, date collected, name of the creator, scale at which the data was collected etc. In GeoMedia 5.2 this capability was provided by a separate product called SMMS for Geomedia. In 6.0 the SMMS product has been integrated into geomedia. –Load data GM and GMPro users can select the SMMS database(s) which they wish to query.  You will be able to "Search enterprise geospatial catalogs with the catalog explorer" This query/display function will be built into GM and GM-Pro.  Users can "associate" metadata records with feature classes. Import/Export/publish "ISO core" metadata in ISO standard XML format Launch a Z39.50 search of registered OGC Catalog servers over the internet.

LRS Precision Location Why’d we do it Increase the availability and usefulness of linear referenced data Further facilitate MGE to GeoMedia migration We are providing two commands (described below) that were previously only available in the GeoMedia Transportation Manager or GeoMedia Transportation Analyst products. Dynamic Segmentation - This command works similarly to the Geocode commands in GeoMedia, but instead of working with coordinate or address data, it takes linearly referenced tabular data and plots them in the map view. This lets you visualize your organization's inventory of assets more clearly than by simply reviewing tabular data. LRS Precision Location - This command works similarly to the Precision Coordinates tool in GeoMedia but instead of showing coordinates it shows real-time LRS locations (e.g. route and kilometerpost) of your cursor location in the map view. It also allows you to use key-ins of LRS locations to place points in the map view. These points may just be used for orientation, but they also can be used for placing vertices of new geometry. The intent of adding this capability is to extend the accessibility of basic linear referencing capabilities within our customer's organizations. The GeoMedia Transportation Manager and GeoMedia Transportation Analyst products are still available and provide much more full-featured linear referencing capabilities as well as robust routing capabilities. But this release increases the power of the GeoMedia Transportation users by making their data more accessible throughout the enterprise. Another key reason is to take out one of the last remaining obstacles to those that want to migrate from MGE to GeoMedia
