Types of Weathering Chemical Mechanical
Agents of Weathering Rainwater Oxygen Carbon dioxide Plant decay acids These are all examples of chemical erosion. They are called agents
Soil Horizons There are three horizons (A,B,C) in soils.
A Horizon Topsoil Dark Organic material
B Horizon Subsoil contains clay soluble minerals
C Horizon slightly weathered parent material rock fragments.
Major soil types There are two major soil types. The two types are Pedocals and Pedalfers.
Agents of erosion Water-beaches and rivers Ice-glaciers Gravity-landslides Wind-sand dune
Question 1 Which horizon is made up of slightly weathered parent material and rock fragments. A. C Horizon B. A Horizon C. B Horizon
Right Good Job!!
Wrong Try again
Question 2 Which is NOT an agent of weathering? A. Rainwater B. Soil C. Plant decay
Right Nice work!!
Wrong Try again
List two types and four Agents of Weathering Two types: A.Chemical B.Mechanical Four Agents A.Rainwater B.Oxygen C.Carbon Dioxide D.Plant Decay Acids
List and Describe each soil horizon, and how each develops. A.A Horizon-Topsoil, Dark, Organic material B.B Horizon-Subsoil, contains clay, soluble minerals C.C Horizon-Slightly Weathered parent material, rock fragments
List four agents of erosion, and describe the landforms associated with each A.Water-Beaches and Rivers B.Ice-Glaciers C.Gravity-Landslides D.Wind-Sand Dune
