3 心術心術 The Art of the Heart The basic aim of the ‘Art of the Heart’ is calmness and stillness ( 靜 jìng). With that it strives to temper the uncontrolled movements and reactions to life by constantly re-establishing inner peace ( 安 ān) and harmony ( 和 hé) by way of balancing.

27 What is the centre ( 中 )? The Xin ( 心 ) and the Qì ( 氣 ) must be centred ( 中 ) and harmonious ( 和 ), the spirit is clear ( 神清 ) and the Qì is sunken ( 沉 ). The root ( 根 ) is in the feet, that is the key point of standing. The weight centre ( 重心 ) is linked to the waist ( 腰 ) and spine ( 脊 ). This is what is said, the origin of the life is on the waist.
