2 Writing a CV (Curriculum Vitae) Personal information: Adress, phone, e- mail, date of birth and personal status (married, single etc.) Key qualifications Details about your education – starting with the most recent information first Working experience

3 Curriculum Vitae Languages. State how well you master the different languages. Ex:  Norwegian – fluent  English – very well  French – fairly good/amateur IT abilities  Can operate Ms Office software; word, excel, power point.

4 Curriculum Vitae Interests. Your interests should give an idea of what kind of person you are. Keep in mind what job you are applying for, and what would be interesting for your employer to know about you. References. Include full name and adress of your reference. You can also state their title. Ex: English teacher. Mrs.X…

5 Curriculum Vitae Remember to change your CV each time you apply for a new job, so that the content of your CV appears relevant to your potential employer.

6 Cover letter / Letter of application The letter you send with your CV Explains what job you are applying for and highlights your key qualifications Main purpose: to explain why you are sending a CV Your goal: To get the reader interested in checking you out more closely

7 Cover letter / Letter of application Keep the letter short – normally less than a page Use the letter to show you meet the exact qualifications mentioned in the advertisement. Read the advertisement closely to find out what the employer is interested in!

8 Cover letter / Letter of application Keep your language formal – serious tone An inviting layout Correct English; spelling, grammar and punctuation A style that is easy to read: use fonts Arial or Times New Roman
