2. 332 prophecies in O.T. about Jesus Over 25% of them are in Psalms The majority of these deal with: –His last days –His crucifixion –His glorious triumph

3. Prophecies about His last days –Rejected by His own family (Psa. 69:8; cf. John 7:5) –Hated without a cause (Psa. 35:19; 69:4; cf. Jn. 15:25) –The prophecy made about one of the friends of Jesus  That he would betray Jesus (Psa. 41:9; cf. Mk. 14:10) –Accused by false witnesses (Psa. 27:12; 35:11; cf. Mk. 14:55-56) –Remained silent when accused (Psa. 38:13-14; cf. Mk. 15:4-5)

4. Prophecies about His crucifixion –The Crucifixion Psalm = Psalm 22 –His cries upon the cross (Psa. 22:1; cf. Matt. 27:46) –Specific Actions Prophesied of Those at the Cross  Ridiculing Jesus, Piercing His Hands & Feet, Gambling for His Garments (Psa. 22:6-8, 12-13, 16-18) –Offered gall & vinegar (Psa. 69:21; cf. Matt. 27:34) –The prophecy made about the bones of Jesus  Not one of them would be broken (Psa. 34:20; cf. John 19:31-37) –His final words (Psa. 31:5; cf. 5. Prophecies about His glorious triumph –David’s prophecy about the resurrection of Christ  His soul not left in Sheol (Hades) (Psa. 16:10) –“The stone the builders rejected…”  “Became the chief cornerstone” (Psa. 118:22) –His ascension into heaven (Psa. 68:18; cf. Eph. 4:8-10) –His coronation to sit at the right hand of God and to begin His reign (Psa. 110:1-3; cf. Matt. 22:41-45; Acts 2:33-36) –Christ is “a priest forever after…”  “The order of Melchizedek” (Psa. 110:4)

6. Why does this matter? –The fulfillment of 332 Old Testament Messianic prophecies in one man proves indisputably that Jesus is who He claimed to be – the Christ, the Son of God. –The best way, the strongest way and the only way for us to teach and convince others that Jesus is the Son of God is to use the Scriptures.  “Then Paul…reasoned with them from the Scriptures, explaining and demonstrating that the Christ had to suffer and rise again from the dead, and saying, ‘This Jesus whom I preach to you is the Christ’” (Acts 17:1-3). –It builds my faith and deepens my love for my Savior to realize that He knew all of this was going to happen to Him (inspired prophecies), and He still came!!!
