HS Announcements: Monday, Jan. 14 th High School 1.Attention all high school students. First semester exams will take place this Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. If you do not have a pink form on file in the office, then you need to be here all day, every day during exams. 2.There will be exam tutoring for French students today until 3:45 in Mrs. Shank’s room if any French students are interested. 3.Because of the snow day before Christmas break, the deadline to buy a yearbook for $25 has been extended. Just bring in the completed order form and your money and give it to Mr. Lynxwiler by the end of this week. If you want your name on the cover, it’s $5 more. This is your last chance to order at this price. 4.The freshmen “After-Exam” event scheduled for January 17 th has been cancelled. 5.On Monday, February, 4 from 6:30-8:00 pm, the HS Guidance Office will be sponsoring its annual Post Secondary Education Options Program Mandatory Counseling Meeting in the WL-S Media Center. This is a required information/counseling session for students entering grades 9-12 for the 2013-2014 school year who wish to leave the WLS campus to take college courses while in high school. The second portion of the evening is not required, but rather suggested, for students and parents who wish to know more about the Dual Enrollment Program through Urbana University that is offered to WLS’s juniors and seniors. This option is available for our students who wish to earn both high school and college credit while at WLS without leaving the WLS campus. 6.Students interested in pursuing a career in veterinary medicine; the 2013 Veterinary Exploration Conference and College Fair will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Columbus on February 23, 2013, and registration is required. Stop by the Guidance office for more information. 7.Attention NHS members – the next NHS meeting will be Wednesday, January 23 rd in room 55 during homeroom. For Seniors 1.Attention seniors interested in Sinclair Community College. Scholarship opportunity information for Sinclair is now available in the Guidance office. Please stop by for more information. 2.Are you interested in applying for the Franklin B. Walters All-Scholastic Award? If so, the application and required documents are due in the HS Guidance Office by January 22, 2013. Stop by HS Guidance to pick up an application. 3.The Pioneer Electric Coop Scholarship is now available. Your parents need to be Pioneer Electric customers to qualify. First place scholarship amount is $2,000 and second place received $1,500. Please stop in the Guidance office for more information. 4.The Ohio JCI Senate Scholarship application is now available in the Guidance office. Deadline is for application is January 17th! Please see Mrs. Hibbs or Ms. Tennant for more information. 5.The Christy Knotts & Ranae Donohoe Scholarship application is now available in the Guidance office. The deadline to return the scholarship application to the Guidance office will be March 8th. 6.The Ohio State University Lima Rudd Scholarship is now due on February 15th. Students must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA and have applied to OSU Lima for admission. 7.There are two new scholarships now available in the Guidance office. * The Buick Achievers Scholarship is open to any student attending a 4-year college and focusing on Engineering/Technology or Design and Business related programs of study. The application must be filled out online and the deadline is February 28, 2013. * Stolly Insurance Succeed Scholarship is open to any senior that will be attending a 2 or 4 year college. The application is available in the Guidance office and the deadline for the application and essay will be February 13th, to the Guidance office. Athletics 1. The Varsity Boys Basketball Team dropped their first OHC game on Friday, losing to Mechanicsburg by a score of 63-49. Leading the way for the Tigers were Landon Hormann with 15 points and Travis Mayse with 12. The JV Boys won 45-31. Michael McIntosh had 11 points and Ross Kelley had 10. 2. The Varsity Girls Basketball Team lost to Greeneview Saturday night by a score of 59-15. Lauren Godwin led the Tigers with 4 points. The JV Girls won 34-18. Mia Walters had 10 points and Ashley Holleron had 7.
