1Feature: No Chief Executive Why was this included: Did not want to haveanother powerful executive like King GeorgePossible Problem: Lack of leadershipfrom central government.No single leader for thegovernment
2Feature: Laws needed approval by nine of thirteen statesWhy was this included: Wanted to protectindividual states’ power. Fear of strong centralgovernment.Possible Problem: Difficult to get nine state toagree on new law. Central government unableto do very much.
3Feature: Congress didn’t have the power to tax citizens. It could only request $from states.Why was this included: Fear ofbeing unfairly taxed by the centralgovernment, as they had beenunder British rule.Possible Problem: States oftenchose not to pay taxes, and thefederal government didn’t havethe funds to operate effectively.
