12 TAX CAPACITY EXPLANATION Tax Capacity is the value assigned to property and is the value your tax is calculated on. Tax capacity is calculated by multiplying the property market value by the appropriate class rate percentage. Residential Homestead: First $500,000 of value1.00% Value over $500,000 1.25% Commercial/Industrial/Public Utility: First $150,0001.50% Value over $150,0002.00%
