2 When and where was Dr. Seuss born?  Dr. Seuss was born on March 2, 1904 in Springfield, Massachusetts. If he were alive he would be 105 years old!  I was born on March 2, 2000 – 96 years after Dr. Seuss! tts-map.gif

3 Childhood/Family  Dr. Seuss got his name from his mother. Her maiden name was Seuss. His middle name was Seuss also. Dr. Seuss’ mother often chanted rhymes to him at bedtime. He gives credit to his mom for his talent to write rhymes. Dr. Seuss had a sister named Marnie. 

4 A cool fact about Dr. Seuss:  Dr. Seuss is not his real name. Try to guess his real name (guess hard). At the very last slide I will tell you his real name.

5 What are Dr. Seuss’ accomplishments and contributions?  Dr. Seuss is famous for writing rhyming books like the famous stories The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, and Hop on Pop. If your child is 3, 4, or 5 his books might be good for a bedtime story.  Dr. Seuss published 40 books.  Half a billion copies of his books were sold. Hat

6 When did Dr. Seuss die?  Dr. Seuss died on Sept. 24, 1991. He lived to be 87 years old. Dr. Seuss had jaw cancer and died in bed while he was sleeping.
