**Section 13-4: Matrix Multiplication**

Objective: Scalar Multiplication. Matrix Properties. Identify whether or NOT matrices can be multiplied. Matrix Multiplication.

2
Scalar Multiplication: To perform scalar multiplication, multiply each element in the matrix by the scalar.

3
**Matrix Properties (see pg. 586)**

1) 2) 3) Note: Division of matrices is NOT possible. 4) 5) Dc=-34, Dx=34, Dy=-136, x=-1, y=4

4
**Can the Matrices Be Multiplied?**

For matrix multiplication to be possible, the number of columns of the first matrix must be the same as the number of rows of the second matrix. 1) ) 4) 5) )
