What do you need to send an E –mail? Computer! Internet Connection and Internet service provider (ISP) Mail Client software e.g. Microsoft Outlook, Oregano An e – mail address e.g.
What happens when an is sent? The message is transmitted via the Internet to the ISP. The ISP store your message on their “File server” As soon as the person that you have sent the message to logs on thy can retrieve their messages from the File server using their own client

What is good about ? Send messages instantly Very cheap (you don’t have to buy a stamp) You can send the same message to a large number of people
What is bad about ? Junk mail Sometimes people don’t check their mail often enough, so urgent messages are read too late Not everyone has an address
