12 DOING PETROLEUM E & P BUSINESS IN MYANMAR CONTRACTS ARE ON PSC BASIS MODELLED AFTER INDONESIAN & MALAYSIAN PSCs. MYANMAR OIL AND GAS ENTERPRISE (MOGE) MAY HAVE SIGNED MORE THAN 100 PSC CONTRACTS IN THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS WITH OIL COMPANIES FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD.

13 DOING PETROLEUM E & P BUSINESS IN MYANMAR CONTRACTS ARE GOOD, PEOPLE ARE GOOD AND WORKING ATMOSPHERE IS GOOD. THERE IS IN PLACE A NEW FOREIGN INVESTMENT LAW (FIL) WHICH IS INVESTOR FRIENDLY. MYANMAR IS SOON TO BECOME A MEMBER OF THE INTERNATIONAL EXTRACTIVE INDUSTRY TRANSPARENCY INITIATIVE (EITI).

17 CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES IN ELECTRICITY SECTOR MYANMAR NEEDS TO IMPROVE ELECTRICITY SUPPLY SITUATION FROM CURRENT INSTALLED CAPACITY OF 3.5 GW TO FIVE TIMES OF THE PRESENT CAPACITY TO ACHIEVE 75% ELECTRIFICATION RATE FROM CURRENT 26%. - PRESIDENT U THEIN SEIN (JUNE, 2012) MINISTRY OF ELECTRIC POWER IS PLANNING TO ADD INSTALLED CAPACITY BY 10,000 MW IN NEXT TEN YEAR BY ADDITIONAL CAPACITY WOULD INCLUDE 40% OF HYDROELECTRICITY, 30% EACH OF NATURAL GAS AND WIND ENERGY.

19 MYANMARS HYDROPOWER POTENTIAL & OPPORTUNITIES ACCORDING TO A 1995 WORLD BANKS STUDY, MYANMAR HAS A POTENTIAL OF 108,000 MW INSTALLED HYDROPOWER CAPACITY. MYANMAR ELECTRIC POWER ENTERPRISE (MEPE) HAVE COMPLETED RELEVANT INVESTIGATIONS IN SOME 92 SITES WITH A TOTAL INSTALLED CAPACITY OF 46,000 MW. MEPE HAVE EXPLOITED ONLY 2,660 MW OF THE INVESTIGATED HYDROPOWER.

MYANMAR NEEDS TO DEVELOP AND EXPLOIT ITS NATURAL RESOURCES TO BUILD UP STRONG ECONOMIC BASE FOR THE COUNTRY. MYANMAR IS THE LAST FRONTIER IN THE REGION FOR ITS NATURAL RESOURCES ENDOWMENT TO BECOME A POTENTIAL ENERGY SUPPLIER COUNTRY IN THE REGION.

25 OPPORTUNITIES IN MINERAL SECTOR MYANMAR IS RICH IN - METALLIC ORE MINERAL RESOURCES, - INDUSTRIAL MINERAL & NON-METALLIC RAW MATERIAL RESOURCES, - PRECIOUS & SEMI-PRECIOUS GEMSTONES AND - FUEL MINERAL RESOURCES.

26 NOTABLE MINING PROJECTS: MONYWA COPPER MINE - NORINCO OF CHINA SIGNED AN AGREEMENT TO RESUME DEVELOPMENT OF THE MONYWA COPPER MINE IN JUNE COST OF EXPANSION PROJECT ESTIMATED TO BE US $ 1 BILLION. TAGAUNGTAUNG NICKEL PROJECT -TISCO OF CHINA AND CNMC OF CHINA SIGNED AN AGREEMENT IN JULY 2010, WITH MINISTRY OF MINES OF MYANMAR TO JOINTLY DEVELOP THE PROJECT. THE PROJECT IS TO OPERATE FOR 20 YEARS STARTING LATE 2011, AT AN ESTIMATED COST OF US$800 MILLION.

27 OPPORTUNITIES IN MINERAL SECTOR MYANMAR IS INVITING - 100% FDI AND - JOINT VENTURE WITH LOCAL MINING COMPANIES ON PRODUCTION SHARING BASIS.
