doc.: 18-11/58r0 Submission July 2011 John Notor, Notor ResearchSlide 4 PDNR SM.[SMART_GRID], WP 1A, 18-11/49R1 Subject is Power Management Systems. IEEE 802 created an input to the PDNR at the March 2011 Plenary in Singapore. Our comments were adopted in the most recent WP 1A meeting and WP 1A has invited us to submit additional inputs (edits to the report). The ITU-R Liaison statement to IEEE 802 is available as /50r0
doc.: 18-11/58r0 Submission July 2011 John Notor, Notor ResearchSlide 5 Draft New Question ITU-R [PWRGRD]/1, WP 1A, /51r0 Title: Impact on radiocommunication systems from wireless and wired data transmission technologies used for the support of power grid management systems. Questions: 1What are the technical and operating features and the characteristics of wireless technologies and devices in support of power grid management systems? 2What are the data rates, bandwidths, frequency bands and spectrum requirements needed support of power grid management systems?
doc.: 18-11/58r0 Submission July 2011 John Notor, Notor ResearchSlide 6 Draft New Resolution ITU-R[CRS]/1, WP 1B, 18-11/52r0 Title: Studies on the implementation and use of cognitive radio systems (CRS) Resolves to invite ITU-R: 1To study the introduction and use of CRS in radiocommunication services; 2To study operational and technical characteristics, requirements, performance and possible benefits associated with the introduction of CRS in relevant radiocommunication services; 3To study the technical conditions associated with the implementation of CRS technologies in radiocommunication services in order to facilitate, ensure and enhance coexistence and sharing among radiocommunication services in specific frequency bands; 4To develop relevant ITU-R Recommendations and/or Reports based on the aforementioned studies as appropriate…
doc.: 18-11/58r0 Submission July 2011 John Notor, Notor ResearchSlide 7 Correspondence Group on Narrow Band Wireless Home Networking, WP 1B, 18-11/53r0 Working Party 1B (WP 1B) decided at its meeting, 25 May–1 June 2011, Geneva, to establish a Correspondence Group on narrow-band wireless home networking (NWHN). This Correspondence Group (CG) will work in accordance with the following Terms of Reference: 1taking into account the Liaison Statement to ITU-T Study Group 15, to consider input contributions providing the following information: a.frequency band requirements; b.operational requirements; c.amount of spectrum needed; d.implementation aspects; 2to assess whether spectrum and operational requirements for NWHN could be met by the existing ITU-R publications; 3if the result of this assessment proves that the requirements cannot be met: a.to identify frequency bands which could be suitable for NWHN; b.to examine the effect of emissions from short range devices used for NWHN on radiocommunication services; 4to develop new or revised ITU-R Recommendation(s) and/or ITU-R Report(s), as appropriate; 5to report to the subsequent meetings of WP 1B.
doc.: 18-11/58r0 Submission July 2011 John Notor, Notor ResearchSlide 8 Multiple Gigabit Wireless Systems in Frequencies Around 60 GHz, WP 5A, 18-11/54r0 Two updated documents are attached for information and comments (see electronically embedded documents in Attachments 1 and 2 in 18-11/54r0). Specifically, WP 5A would like to ask external organizations to provide WP 5A with any missing and/or complementary material. In particular, WP 5A is interested in receiving material for the missing overview sections of the standards in Report ITU-R M.[LMS.MGWS2] as highlighted via editor’s notes. WP 5A plans to finalize two documents in its eighth meeting of WP 5A to be held 8-17 November Deadline for contributions is 1 st November 2011 at 1600 hours UTC.
doc.: 18-11/58r0 Submission July 2011 John Notor, Notor ResearchSlide 9 PDNR ITU-R M.[LMS.WASN STUDY], WP 5A, /55r0 Title: System design guidelines for wide area sensor and/or actuator network (WASN) systems. The report may be edited (using change marks) and submitted as a contribution from IEEE to WP 5A.
doc.: 18-11/58r0 Submission July 2011 John Notor, Notor ResearchSlide 10 QoS Requirements and Objectives for Wireless Access Systems, WP 5A, 18-11/56r0 Title: Liaison statement to ITU-R Working party 5D, ITU-T Study groups 12, 15 and 16, and External organizations on “QUALITY OF SERVICE REQUIREMENTS AND OBJECTIVES FOR WIRELESS ACCESS SYSTEMS” The intent of the proposed new Recommendation is to consolidate the end-user performance requirements and objectives for wireless access systems, as per other Recommendations on Quality of Service. This affects multiple ITU-R documents.
doc.: 18-11/58r0 Submission July 2011 John Notor, Notor ResearchSlide 11 PDNR ITU-R M.[LMS.WASN], WP 5A, 18-11/57r0 Title: Objectives, characteristics and functional requirements of wide- area sensor and/or actuator network (WASN) systems. This Recommendation provides the objectives, system characteristics, functional requirements, service applications and fundamental network functionalities for mobile wireless access systems providing communications to a large number of ubiquitous sensors and/or actuators scattered over wide areas in the land mobile service. The key objective of WASN systems is to support machine-to-machine service applications irrespective of machine locations. IEEE 802 may provide inputs by editing the PDNR with change marks enabled.
