The President…continued Be ready to answer the following questions (Check your notes if you dont know) 1. What is the executive branchs function? 2. What does it mean to be the commander in chief? 3. What are the top 3 most important roles of the president?
22nd Amendment 1947 The president can only serve 2 terms.
War Powers Act 1973 Congress Declares war….but…. The President can send troops into military action without a declaration of war. Congress needs 48 hours notice. Troops cannot be there for longer than 60 days.
Pardon The forgiveness of a crime and the cancellation of the relevant penalty The president can pardon any criminal.
Cabinet A group of people the president picks to give him advice and help run the federal government. This is part of the unwritten constitution.
Impeachment a formal process in which an official is accused of unlawful activity

Electoral College A group of 538 electors who pick the president. Each state gets one vote per senator, and members in the house of reps. Washington DC also gets 3 electors.
Popular vote The vote of the general public.
