2 Allegations and Resolutions 2 Allegation: Standard Alleged Violated: Resolution: An educator allegedly hit a student with a marker. The marker bounced off the desk, but there was no resulting injury to the student Educator was given a written warning. Standard #1: An educator maintains a professional relationship with each student, both in and outside the classroom.

3 Allegations and Resolutions 3 Allegation: Standard Alleged Violated: Resolution: An educator had allegedly sexually touched several students. Educator’s license was permanently revoked. Standard #1: An educator maintains a professional relationship with each student, both in and outside the classroom.

4 Allegations and Resolutions 4 Allegation: Standard Alleged Violated: Resolution: An educator allegedly stole money from PTA funds. Educator’s license was suspended for five (5) years. Educator was fined $100. This was the second offense. Standard # 4: An educator entrusted with public funds and property honors that trust with honest, responsible stewardship.

5 Allegations and Resolutions 5 Allegation: Standard Alleged Violated: Resolution: An educator was allegedly kissing, hugging and texting a student at school and at night. The educator also alleged to have proposed marriage to the student. Educator’s license was permanently revoked. Standard #1: An educator maintains a professional relationship with each student, both in and outside the classroom.

6 Allegations and Resolutions 6 Allegation: Standard Alleged Violated Resolution: An educator allegedly charged students a fee to sit in a classroom. Educator was issued a written reprimand and fined $50. Standard #1: An educator maintains a professional relationship with each student, both in and outside the classroom. Standard #5: An educator maintains integrity regarding acceptance of any gratuity, gifts, compensation or favor that might impair or appear to influence professional decisions or actions and shall refrain from using the educator’s position for personal gain.

7 Allegations and Resolutions 7 Allegation: Standard Alleged Violated Resolution: An educator allegedly used a racial slur in reference to a student in front of other educators. Educator received a written reprimand, a $50 fine, and was ordered to receive diversity/sensitivity training. Standard #1: An educator maintains a professional relationship with each student, both in and outside the classroom.

8 Allegations and Resolutions 8 Allegation: Standard Alleged Violated: Resolution: An educator allegedly filed a false sick leave report. The educator had reportedly been arrested for DUI and was in jail. Educator received a written reprimand and was fined $50. Standard #3: An educator honestly fulfills reporting obligations associated with professional practices.

9 Allegations and Resolutions 9 Allegation: Standard Alleged Violated: Resolution: An educator allegedly taped students to chairs in order to make them behave. Educator’s license was suspended for a year and the educator was fined $100. Standard #1: An educator maintains a professional relationship with each student, both in and outside the classroom. Standard #2: An educator maintains competence regarding skills, knowledge, and dispositions relating to his/her organizational position, subject matter, and/or pedagogical practice.

Educator’s license was suspended for five years and the educator was fined $100. Standard #1: An educator maintains a professional relationship with each student, both in and outside the classroom.

11 Allegations and Resolutions 11 Allegation: Standard Alleged Violated Resolution: An educator allegedly breached security during the End of Course testing. Educator’s license was placed on probation for three (3)years and the educator was fined $100. Plus required training on testing procedures. Standard # 3: An educator honestly fulfills reporting obligations associated with professional practices. Standard # 6: An educator keeps in confidence secure standardized test material as well as information about students and colleagues obtained in the course of professional service unless disclosure serves a professional purpose or is allowed or required by law.

Educator was issued a written reprimand and fined $50. Standard #3: An educator honestly fulfills reporting obligations associated with professional practices.

Educator’s license was placed on probation for three years and fined $75. Standard #1: An educator maintains a professional relationship with each student, both in and outside the classroom.

14 Allegations and Resolutions 14 Allegation: Standard Alleged Violated: Resolution: An educator allegedly was under the influence at school, fell and injured self at a tailgate party. Educator’s license was placed on probation for two (2) years. Educator was fined $75 and ordered to get counseling. Standard #1: An educator maintains a professional relationship with each student, both in and outside the classroom. Standard #7: An educator refrains from using, possessing and/or being under the influence of alcohol, tobacco, or unauthorized drugs while on school premises or at school-sponsored activities involving students.

15 Allegations and Resolutions 15 Allegation: Standard Alleged Violated: Resolution: An educator allegedly engaged in inappropriate behavior towards a young student, including but not limited to pushing/striking a child on the head and pulling/tugging/stroking a child’s hair after having been directed not to do so on prior occasions by superiors. Educator’s license was placed on probation for one (1) year. Educator was fined $75. Standard #1: An educator maintains a professional relationship with each student, both in and outside the classroom.

16 Allegations and Resolutions 16 Allegation: Standard Alleged Violated: Resolution: An educator allegedly left students in a hotel room when on out of town on an athletic trip and went to a bar to have some drinks. Educator’s license was placed on probation for two (2) years and fined $75. Standard #7 : An educator refrains from using, possessing and/or being under the influence of alcohol, tobacco, or unauthorized drugs while on school premises or at school- sponsored activities involving students.

17 Allegations and Resolutions 17 Allegation: Standard Alleged Violated: Resolution: An educator allegedly shoved a student who was attacking another student to make him leave the room. During the investigation it was substantiated that the educator did not act inappropriately, the file was closed with no action. Standard #1: An educator maintains a professional relationship with each student, both in and outside the classroom.

18 Allegations and Resolutions 18 Allegation: Standard Alleged Violated: Resolution: An educator allegedly was drinking in the classroom while teaching. Educator was recommended for counseling and the license was suspended for one (1) year plus a $100 fine. Standard #7: An educator refrains from using, possessing and/or being under the influence of alcohol, tobacco, or unauthorized drugs while on school premises or at school- sponsored activities involving students.

19 Allegations and Resolutions 19 Allegation: Standard Alleged Violated: Resolution: An educator allegedly billed the school district for bus runs which in reality the educator did not make. Educator received a written reprimand. Educator was fined $50. Standard #3: An educator honestly fulfills reporting obligations associated with professional practices.

20 Allegations and Resolutions 20 Allegation: Standard Alleged Violated: Resolution: An educator allegedly referred student to Juvenille Court Educator was acting within the realm of authority; therefore, the file was closed and no investigation was authorized. Standard #1: An educator maintains a professional relationship with each student, both in and outside the classroom. Standard #3: An educator honestly fulfills reporting obligations associated with professional practices.

21 Allegations and Resolutions 21 Allegation: Standard Alleged Violated: Resolution: An educator allegedly took students to parties to expand their homosexual circles, inappropriately texting and shopping with students. The educator’s license was placed on probation for three (3) years. Educator was fined $75 and required to attend counseling or rehab with progress monitored. Standard #1: An educator maintains a professional relationship with each student, both in and outside the classroom.

22 Allegations and Resolutions 22 Allegation: Standard Alleged Violated: Resolution: A patron alleged that the educator gave a student a low test score. This allegation was not authorized for investigation; therefore, case closed. Standard #1: An educator maintains a professional relationship with each student, both in and outside the classroom.

23 Allegations and Resolutions 23 Allegation: Standard Alleged Violated: Resolution: An educator allegedly berated a colleague in front of several other faculty members (no students were present.) This was a teacher – teacher issue. Since no students were present, the case was closed and the ethics sub- committee denied permission for this allegation to be investigated. Standard #2: An educator maintains competence regarding skills, knowledge, and disposition relating to his/her organizational positions, subject matter, and /or pedagogical practice.

24 Allegations and Resolutions 24 Allegation: Standard Alleged Violated: Resolution: An educator allegedly told a disruptive student that their spouse would “kick their a**.” Educator received a written reprimand and fined $50. Standard #1: An educator maintains a professional relationship with each student, both in and outside the classroom.

25 Allegations and Resolutions 25 Allegation: Standard Alleged Violated: Resolution: An educator allegedly threatened own child and hit the child at school Educator’s license was placed on probation for one (1) year and fined $75. Educator was also required to take anger management classes/counseling and report results to AR state board quarterly. Standard #1: An educator maintains a professional relationship with each student, both in and outside the classroom.

26 Allegations and Resolutions 26 Allegation: Standard Alleged Violated: Resolution: An educator allegedly was running drugs with a Mexican Cartel. Educator’s license was permanently revoked. Educator was arrested by the FBI. Standard #7: An educator refrains from using, possessing and/or being under the influence of alcohol, tobacco, or unauthorized drugs while on school premises or at school- sponsored activities involving students.

27 Allegations and Resolutions 27 Please realize that all of the facts and evidence gathered during the investigation as well as the dialogue which occurred among the members of the Ethics Sub-Committee with the investigators are not presented on these slides.
