3 KRA #1 – Refining with greater clarity the role, authority, and limits of Council This includes a clear written agreement with the membership and congregation about what authority Council has in an of itself and what matters are to be taken to the congregation for a decision of the membership. 4 KRA #1a – A renewal of Council practises and policies  Establishing “Best Practises” for Council  Human Resources policies and procedures  Governance through clearly stated policies  Orientation for potential Council members Steps to be taken: Create draft Council Operations and Policy manual including incorporation of existing policies – August Create draft Council Operations and Policy manual including incorporation of existing policies – August Present a policy manual to Council for study, discussion and approval at a one day working retreat – September Present a policy manual to Council for study, discussion and approval at a one day working retreat – September

5 KRA #2: Clarity with the membership and congregation about what can and cannot be legally communicated publically related to matters of hiring, performance evaluation, termination, or resignation Steps to be taken:  Develop a Human Resources Communications Policy for Council for discussion and approval – August  Present this policy to the membership – September *Based on Employment Standards Act and the Privacy Act

6 KRA #3: An intentional process to help the church “move on” from long standing past issues and practises that keep re-emerging. Steps to be taken:  A sermon series that teaches the congregation what Biblical closure (Jubilee) to the past is and what it means – September  A specific Sunday Service of Jubilee after the appropriate steps of closure have been taken – October (date to be determined)

7 KRA #4: Implementation of a consistent “all ministry leaders” meeting guided by the Transitional Pastor (and eventually the Lead Pastor*) for the purpose of prayer, encouragement, equipping, and peer support. Steps to be taken:  Identify and meet with each ministry leader to invite them to attend the initial meeting – In process  Launch first meeting – Early September  Begin with teaching about team leadership ministry and help each leader find their "second" if they do not have one – August and ongoing

8 KRA #5: A decision to ensure that the church’s Mission and Vision is collaboratively stewarded by the Council & the Lead Pastor versus being (by default) primarily the responsibility of the Lead Pastor. Steps to be taken:  Review the existing Mission and Vision statement – August  Decision by Council to affirm Mission and Vision and include discussion as a standing agenda item – September  Include this value as part of Pastoral Search profile – September

9 KRA #6: Clarity about whether the primary focus is on equipping people to: a)minister in their spheres of influence OR b)to invite people to church to experience the ministry of the Pastor Steps to be taken:  Discuss this with Council and with the membership – August & September  Include agreed upon values in the Pastoral Profile document – September

11 KRA #7: Establishing and communicating a clear process for due diligence and launching of new ministries including:  Purpose  Leadership  Strategy  Accountability  Approval by Council (and possibly the membership depending on the parameters that result from KRA #1) Steps to be taken:  Discuss with Council – August  Present to membership – September

12 KRA #8: Preaching, teaching, and launching into a consistent corporate prayer ministry that normalizes a church culture where the congregation prays together during Sunday gatherings. Steps to be taken:  A sermon series on prayer, corporate prayer and prayer as worship – August  Incorporate prayer times into worship services – August and ongoing

14 KRA #9: A clear process of exploration and discussion with the next Lead Pastor to help Port Kells clarify its unique sense of purpose in the community at this time in its journey. This includes:  Ongoing communication and reference to the existing Statement of Vision  A clearer definition of what the church considers its “community/communities” to be
