Today’s Session Find Your Voice, Live Your Dreams!
“The man who follows the crowd, will usually get no further than the crowd. The man who walks alone is likely to find himself in places no one has ever been before… You have two choices in life: you can dissolve into the mainstream, or you can be distinct. To be distinct you must be different. To be different, you must strive to be what no one else but you can be.” Attributed to Alan Ashley-Pitt
Activity Letter to Self (to former self or future self)
I Wonder Why… I wonder why You felt the need To take away my innocence Keeping me silent With gifts and untrue love. I wonder why I had to endure so much pain To be a man The bruises, the welts – But still refused to cry. I wonder why You took away my virginity And promised your love to me You were my first love Until I found you in bed with another man. I wonder why You squashed my dreams Life was crazy, life was good You stopped believing in me And then it was time to go. I wonder why I could never fit in Always trusted others But could never shake to stigma Of an oreo – black on the outside, white on the inside. I wonder why People could be so mean Always judged by the color of my skin And not be the quality of my work, Or the love in my heart. I wonder why They say things happen for a reason Why endure so much pain Live with constant suffering Just to be stronger in the end. Now, I understand why Things happen for a reason. This journey was necessary To live an authentic life. Now, I no longer wonder why.
