3 1. S TATISTICS FOR R ESULTS F ACILITY W HAT ? Global partnership initiative W HAT FOR ?To scale-up investments in statistical capacity W HO ? UK, Netherlands funding / World Bank managing H OW ? Providing grants to support countries, as a catalyst with the hope that the demonstration effect will encourage governments to increase funding for statistics To make sustainable improvements in the production, availability and use of quality statistics, to increase capacity in policy formulation and decision-making for development. T HE P ROJECT : D EVELOPMENT OBJECTIVES (1/2) Nigeria - 5 pilots countries: Afghanistan, DRC, Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda -Phased project: - Phase I (current): focuses on 6 Pilot states (Anambra, Bauchi, Edo, Kaduna, Niger, Ondo), NBS and NPoPC. Total cost: $10m. Length: 3 years. R OLE OF THE W ORLD B ANK - Worked with Nigerian government and Implementing agencies on the preparation of the Project document - Supervises the implementation of the Project - Will provide Technical advice and Knowledge sharing as requested - Will monitor the project, and evaluate impact - Is the interface between pilot countries and donors - Worked with NPoPC, NBS and SSAs on Needs assessment and Work plan - Is coordinating the donors community in statistical development Ondo State Statistical User Satisfaction Baseline Survey Workshop, 13-14 October 2011, Akure, Nigeria

7 Technical Financial Oversight 4. I MPLEMENTATION ARRANGEMENTS (1/2) -Implementing agencies: NBS and NPoPC - Project Implementation Task Teams responsible for day-to-day implementation of activities - Coordination within the system - Key Areas of Assistance - Office Furniture - Operational Logistics: transportation - Computers: Hardware and Software - Other Hardware Supplies: Printers, Scanners, photocopiers, projectors etc. - Software - Communication and Statistical Awareness (flyers, yearbooks, etc.) - Training (Statistical Methods, ICT, Management, etc.).
