4 Facts and Figures Unemployment: 11.7% of total economically active population (18.1% female, 8.3% male) Population (2001 census): 24,443 total population (incl. 17 EU member state citizens and 2,365 non-EU). I.e., 9.74% non-Greek nationals. Office for Foreigners: approx. 3000 registered immigrants: 1,000-1,500 Albania; 500 Pakistan; 450 India; 400 Romania; 100 Bulgaria

5 Research 72 semi-structured, in-depth interviews (62 individuals) Majority population: 15 members of the civil service; 8 members of the general public living in the ‘old refugees housing’; 5 Orthodox priests; 3 social workers 2 journalists
