Evaluating Children's Physical Activity in a Free Play Environment
Why this project? Prevents chronic health problems Promotes physical, social and psychosocial development Vital for good health
30% of children in the UK are overweight or obese (BHF, 2012) 35% of children are not getting enough exercise (60minutes of moderate-high intensity activity) (BHF, 2012)
Finally… Is a free play centre a good way to increase children's physical activity? Non structured active play is the highest recorded type of physical activity! (BHF, 2012)
Doing a good research project doesn’t have to frazzle your brain!
DO YOUR RESEARCH!

* Evaluating Children's Physical Activity in a Free Play Environment * For phrase search use quotation marks - “Physical Activity” * Use OR between words on same search line for alternatives * Subject terms – click on arrow to change index * Varied word endings eg: Measure* for measurement, measurements, measured
Choose where to Search * Discover- New library Catalogue * Search individual databases- relevant to your subject -i.e SPORTDiscus – all aspects of sport Modifying Searches * Experiment with different search words * Limit to years of publication
Save articles in library folder Look at abstracts Create Article table Article Reference and availability
Can copy and paste from library source!
