Facts about Martin Luther King Jr. : Born in Atlanta, Georgia 1929—1968, American clergyman and civil rights leader King organized the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) On Apr. 4, 1968, he was shot and killed as he stood on the balcony of the Lorraine Motel which was a 1991 a civil-rights museum. His birthday has become a national holiday, and is celebrated every year on the third Monday is January.
Graduated from High School at age 15. Attended Boston University and got PhD. Got married in 1953 to Coretta Scott had four kids. Receives BA in sociology from Morehouse College at age 19. In 1956 his house was bombed. MORE FACTS:

Motivation for Life: When his father died, Martin Luther knew that he was going to do something really special with his life. He wanted to help everyone see each other equally, and treat each other equally. He wanted African Americans to be to able to do the same stuff as whites could do, with whites.
