Finding Angles Using The Cosine Rule Consider the Cosine Rule again: a 2 =b2b2 +c2c2 -2bccosA o We are going to change the subject of the formula to cos A o Turn the formula around: b 2 + c 2 – 2bc cos A o = a 2 Take b 2 and c 2 across. -2bc cos A o = a 2 – b 2 – c 2 Divide by – 2 bc.
