3 Ambition in Action Attending a workshop and completing the associated activities, will allow senior staff to meet the mandatory TAA Scheme Policy training requirements to fulfil their obligations as Advisors, Assessors, Discipline Experts, Institute Representatives, Organising Managers and Reviewing Managers. 4 Ambition in Action Purpose Completion of this Assessment Activity is necessary to finalise accreditation as a TAA Advisor and/or Assessor

7 Ambition in Action TAA1 Action Plan CASE STUDY - Sharon – new Teacher of Business Qualifications: TAFE Diploma in Business Administration Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training Industry Experience: 25 years as an office manager in a legal practice

8 Ambition in Action TAA1 – Teaching Performance TEACHING PERFORMANCE (TAA1) involves the ability to :  prepare lesson material,  to present up-to-date technical knowledge and skills in an educationally appropriate manner,  and to evaluate outcomes in terms of aims / objectives.

10 Ambition in Action TAA1 Action Plan Assessment Case Study Sharon – new Teacher of Business The following are Comments on Strengths and Weaknesses are from her TAA1 observation.  Sharon is a well organised and efficient new teacher.  She has been teaching for 3 months with no previous part-time teaching experience.  The students she deals with are culturally and linguistically diverse

11 Ambition in Action TAA1 Action Plan The following are Comments on Strengths and Weaknesses.  Sharon uses plans lessons and assessment activities prepared by other teachers  She is very knowledgable in her industry area  Her voice was very low during most of the session observed

12 Ambition in Action TAA1 Action Plan The following are Comments on Strengths and Weaknesses.  Her lesson plans clearly set out the content with well defined objectives.  Her overhead projection resources are easy to read and appropriate.  Sharon does not utilise the computers available in the room

13 Ambition in Action TAA1 Action Plan The following are Comments on Strengths and Weaknesses.  Sharon follows her lesson plans and delivers the content in the prescribed timeframe,  There is very little student participant in her classes.  Assessment tasks revolved around short answer questions and essays

14 Ambition in Action TAA1 Action Plan The following are Comments on Strengths and Weaknesses.  Sharon’s classes are teacher-centred.  She asks very few questions throughout her lessons.  The teaching aids she uses are the overhead projector and the whiteboard.  Sharon has said she doesn’t like hand outs because they take too much time to prepare and the students don’t really read them.

17 Ambition in Action Accreditation A Statement of Completion will be issued following your attendance at a workshop and completing the associated activities. Your accreditation as a TAA Advisor / Assessor extends to 5 years from completion of the mandatory training. Please submit your completed TAA1 Action Plan to Learning and Innovation.
