2 CORE PURPOSES OF THE FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES (Strategic Plan 1999-2002) The core purposes for the Faculty of Health Sciences are: Provide education to the highest standard Produce research at the highest standard Apply this education and research to improve the health of individuals and the community

3 Values of the Faculty of Health Sciences (Faculty Strategic Plan 1999- 2002) The Faculty aims to contribute to enhancing physical, mental and social health and wellbeing of the community. The Faculty is guided by the Alma-Ata declaration of WHO which describes health as a fundamental human right. We believe that the highest possible level of health is a most important social goal, whose realisation requires action by other social and economic forces in addition to the health sector.
