He conducts 60 funerals a month… Richard Johnson (Church of England) Built the first church with his own funds… it was burned down 5 years later. First missionary to Australia arrived in 1821 (33 years after the first fleet) 1825 – 1830 Christianity “The Solution…” 1825 10,000 acres given to mission in Newcastle…

John Saunders (1806 – 1859) Lawyer Is the first pastor to speak against aboriginal massacre… Supports about aboriginal rights… Opposes transportation of convicts… 1847 Returns to England due to illness.

11 Mary McKillop (1842 – 1909) Established 35 schools… 1870 Finds out that Keating (Priest) was sexually abusing children… 1871 Accused of alcoholism and insubordination. She is excommunicated. (Bishop Sheil) Most of the schools are closed, she is forbidden to have contact with anyone in the church… She is sheltered by a Jewish family… 1872 She is exonerated… (Bishop Sheil) Realized that she was wrongly accused.

12 John Flynn (1880 – 1951) Presbyterian Minister 1912, he established the Australian Inland Mission to minister to the spiritual, social and medical needs of people in the Outback. In 1917, he received an inspirational letter from Lieutenant Clifford Peel, a Victorian medical student with an interest in aviation Dr Kenyon St Vincent Welch took off from Cloncurry on 17 May 1928, he was flying a single engine, timber and fabric bi-plane named ‘Victory’ (leased by QANTAS for two shillings per mile flown).
