To assist students with problems (academic or personal) that are affecting their performance in school. To meet with students on an individual basis for counselling on school or peer related concerns. To act as a contact person with community agencies – Public Health, Social Services, IWK.
To act as a student advocate with staff and administration. To assist parents with any school related issue that their child may be experiencing To oversee student records Study skills for students needing the support.
Ask to see your child’s agenda book nightly Set a time and place for school work to be done each day Look over your child’s work to see if it is neat and complete Have your child keep an accurate calendar of school activities Check the school Webpage/Twitter / PowerParent daily
Attend all school functions – Curriculum Night, Parent Teachers (etc) Find out about homework through the teacher’s website Call teachers if you have concerns Organize school materials the night before Congratulate your child on a job well done!
