2 BLITZKRIEG – “LIGHTNING WAR”  Germany used a technique of rapid advance with tanks, motorized infantry, and close air support  Caught countries totally by surprise and resulted in total German supremacy from  Germany was able to capture Poland, Denmark, Norway, France, Finland, Estonia, Latvia and the Balkans in the first two years of the war

3 TANKS  Introduced in World War I, by World War II the tank had been fatally perfected  The German Panther and Tiger tanks were the most effective, but the Sherman tank used by the Allies was sufficient when used with air support  There was literally no defence against the tank
