Initiated in July 1999 by Dr. Ashok Grover (McMaster University), with support from the Canadian Institutes for Health Research, COSC consists of researchers from at least 50 laboratories from 15 different universities in Canada. Major goals are to foster research collaboration among these laboratories, and to provide better training opportunities for students and postdoctoral fellows. The COSC holds a biannual scientific meeting, which is the largest Canadian conference concentrating on oxidative stress. Membership of COSC is free.
