Morning Meeting MM goal is to merge social, emotional and intellectual learning  Greeting: Students greet each other by name.  Sharing: Students share some news of interest, articulate thoughts and feelings, and sometimes respond to each other or ask questions in a positive way.  Group Activity: The whole class does a short activity together building classroom community.  Morning Message: Students practice academic skills and build their sense of community by reading and discussing a daily message written by the teacher

The Daily 5: 5 Meaningful Literacy Activities: -Read to Self -Read to Someone -Work on Writing -Listen to Reading -Word Work Building Stamina Reading groups meet during Daily 5 Teach reading strategies to practice independently

Begin the year with personal narrative or small moments Other topics include: -non-fiction -letters -poetry -descriptive paragraphs -opinions Help your child come up with topics.

Number Sense and Operations Counting by fives, tens, and multiples of hundreds, tens, and ones Comparing Write multi-digit numbers (up to 1000) Understand base-ten notation Place value and the properties of operations Math facts (Number Sense) Memorize addition and subtraction facts to 20 Fluently solve addition and subtraction to 100 Use addition and subtraction algorithms to solve problems within 1000. Measurement Understanding the importance of standard units of measure Use rulers and other measurement tools Geometry Describe and analyze shapes by examining their sides and angles Investigate, describe, and reason about decomposing and combining shapes Two- and three-dimensional shapes Data analysis Describe and analyze data through charts and graphs Collect data and develop graphs

Each Monday new homework will be assigned by your teacher. Starting in October your child will find this on their Scootpad account. This homework will consist of the following: Spelling Words 8 new words a week Tic-Tac-Toe board choices on how to practice words
