Explain a factory during the revolution ◦What are the main differences between the cottage industries and the factories? ◦Which system do you think you would enjoy working in more? (Be prepared to explain why) ◦If you were an entrepreneur, which type of industry would you use to run your business? (Be prepared to explain why)

3 Main difference: ◦Cottage Industry: craft-based economy  Workers create goods from start to finish ◦Factory Production: used assembly lines  Assembly line: arrangement in which a product is moved from worker to worker, with each person performing a single task in its manufacture

5 Activity: Phase one Goal: Color 16 ice skates as a group Skates must be colored in neatly according to direction. Coloring cannot be outside the lines! Only one person may work on coloring a skate at a time.

6 Activity: Phase two Goal: Color 16 ice skates as a group Skates must be colored in neatly according to direction. Coloring cannot be outside the lines! Each person in your group is in charge of ONE color. Pass the skates around your group to finish them. If there are more than 6 in a group, extra group members can sit out.
